OUTLINE: HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS ATTENDING SCHOOL IN ARGENTINE 25 YEARS: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF OBSERVATIONAL STUDIES.
INTRODUCTION
a) Hypertension: important health problem in the pediatric population.
b) Cardiovascular risk factors in children and adolescents in argentine.
c) Systematic review of observational studies published during the period 1998-2014 was carried out.
POPULATION AND METHODS
a) Prevalence studies of high blood pressure in children and adolescents attending school in Argentina.
b) Studies and surveys in which blood pressure was measured in children and adolescents (5–20 years)
RESULTS
a) Ramdom effects model was 6.61%
b) The crude prevalence was 7.35%
c) Elevated blood pressurewas more prevalent in adolescents than in children <10 years
d) The common risk factors were
-sedentary lifestyle 50%
-Overweight 15.4%
-Abdominal obesity 13.7%
-Obesity 11.5%
-Smoking 6.5%
CONCLUSIONS
a) The prevalence of high blood pressure and cardiovascular risk factors in school – going children and adolescents is high.
